Join us for our homecoming show following our epic ten day tour of Alaska! Two cinematic East Bay songstresses and a Greek Rebetika band will provide the perfect cocktail of shredding musicality and other-worldly spice to make your Thursday night in Oakland feel like a Friday on a distant riviera…

La Dee Da  “contrasts epic rock with flights of fancy” (Joshua Teehee, Fresno Bee) with lush arrangements, whimsical lyrics and adventurous pop sensibility. Band members include acclaimed jazz/forro flutist Rebecca Kleinmann, Aaron Handler on upright bass, Daniel Fleischer on the drums and captivating vocalist/composer Rosie Steffy who will be playing the Starline’s gorgeous grand piano at this event.

Singing in both English and French, Canadian-Californian songcrafter Madeline Tasquin leads the listener on a musical journey from jazz to folk to soul, from sassy pop ballad to delicately dark fairy-tale, delivering it all with a stage presence that radiates. Gorgeous musicality and a powerful voice are Maddy’s signature talents as she spins stories of the natural world, the cosmos and the business of being human in a genre-defying manner. Her new Montreal-based project TASQUIN features Felix Petit on synth, vocals & sax, Simon Pagé on bass and William Côté on drums.

Keraki, or “Little Candle” in Greek, is an intimate, old fashioned acoustic Greek Rebetika band led by Oakland’s own Greg Jenkins (Fanfare Zambaleta). Come early so you don’t miss the romantic, illicit tunes of 1920’s Mediterranean cafes brought to life in the modern day with timeless skill and reverie.
